Good mornin', dearies! 💛 I taught my first undergraduate class of the semester on Monday (Writing YA Lit Writer's Workshop), volunteer for my kiddo's teacher this morning, and will get back to writing this afternoon. Busy week! How is your week looking? Starting something new? Back into your routine? 💛 Also, shout-out to my fellow Hufflepuffs! 💛
The best part about being an author - especially a YA author - is getting to speak to kids, teens, young adults, teachers, students' parents, librarians, and readers of all ages. I had the honor of giving an author presentation to the entire 4th grade at my son's school in the fall. But cooler yet, I received thank yous from my son's teacher and classmates. Those letters, just like emails & messages I receive from readers, mean more to me than anyone could imagine. Thank you Mrs. S & the rest of the 4th grade teachers. ❤️
I had the honor of reading and lecturing for the University of Nebraska at Omaha Low Residency MFA in Writing program yesterday at the Arbor Farm Lied Lodge and Conference Center in the quaint town of Nebraska City. The venue is gorgeous, and the faculty is comprised of talented writers and professors/instructors from across the country. Such an impressive program! 📝 My lecture- Traditional Publishing: Editors, Agents, and Queries. 📝 @unocfam @unomaha
Happy New Year! 🎉 New board game with the fam- RISK: Legacy. Is "risk" my focus or word for the new year? No, but it may be an indirect consequence of my focus. In 2019, my focus word, or whatever you call it, is ACTION. I've been well intentioned the past year concerning my relationships, health, my various jobs, and etc. but it is time to make things happen. Truth be told, this last year was a time of figuring out my new normal and setting realistic goals/intentions. Now, it is time to act. Let's do this! What are your resolutions/goals/focus words for 2019?! 🎉 About the game: You actually make permanent changes to the board, rip up cards, name cities, etc. as you play through matches on a future cloned Earth. Super fun & recommend!
